Cyber Essentials
Last updated 1 November 2026
Cyber Essentials is a UK government scheme run by the NCSC. It sets out five basic controls. Here is how our installs meet them.
Firewalls
A desktop install has no internet access unless you ask for it. Cloud and rack installs accept connections only from your own network.
Secure setup
Machines are built from a minimal image, disks are encrypted, and there is no shared administrator login.
Access control
Administrator access needs a named account and two-factor authentication. Every change is recorded on the machine.
Malware protection
Software is checked before it is installed. Models are verified by checksum, and a prompt cannot run code on the machine.
Updates
Security patches are applied every month, and within two weeks of a critical alert. We keep a record you can hand to an assessor.
What you get
A written checklist, a copy of the firewall rules and a list of every supplier involved. Ask for them under NDA: hello@hardinf.com.
